Between 2017 and 2018, Malawi National Commission supported the Foundation for Arts and Culture to develop a database of cultural industries in Malawi (www.foacmw.org/index.php/database/) with the objectives of:
Facilitating greater networking and information sharing among cultural industries in Malawi and internationally; To develop capacities for management of databases on culture;
Publicising Malawi’s information and data on culture in general and cultural industries in particular; and
Demonstrating the contribution of culture to economic development in general, and to the welfare of artists and cultural practitioners in particular.
