The Second Phase of the CapEFA was launched on 11 July 2013 by the former Director General of UNESCO, Ms. Irina Bokova, at Lilongwe Technical College and ended in July, 2017. The goal of the project was to support Malawi TVET reform efforts in order to improve its long-term relevance, efficiency, equity, as well as institutional and financial sustainability.
The CapEFA project, achieved the following: Clarified the roles amongst key stakeholders in TEVET for better development of the TVET sector; Curriculum Harmonisation; Development of Standards in some Trades; Development of a career guide book on TVET trades; Development of an administration guide on TEVET institutions; and Establishment of a Centre of Excellence at Lilongwe Technical College for Technical teacher professional development.
